  1. I wish hikers weren’t told to spend $1000s of dollars to get “UltraLight”. Maybe instead hit the gym? Lose fat and put 10lbs of muscle on? Makes you live longer rather than spend all that time in the cubical working so you can go hiking 3 times a year. Everything is an ad nowdays.

  2. the bible is such nonsense. its the story of a people who have stockholm syndrome for the elohim abusers.

  3. For the last 82 years I marched to my own drummer , when possible. For the last 33 years I have gone Ultra Light. Plus for the last 65 years it’s Jungle Hammocks for me. My old mattress was a rectangle Therm-a-rest but then switched to a full length Therm-a-rest mummy style. It’s inflated about 1/2 to 3/4 so it is not rigid and really comfortable. I like the Smart water bottles but still have the Nalgene bottles and occasionally use them. When a Smart Water bottle gets past the dirty mark , into the recycle bin and a brand new one is purchased. The reason for switching to UL gear 33 years ago was 3 Cardiac Arrests , heart problems ( eventually triple bypass ) and having to go with lighter gear , no more then 25 pounds ( Max weight ) or less , so 10 ponds ( Non consumables ) makes my Doctors smile. Still less then 25 with food & water included.

  4. I tried Altras and liked them, but turns out I can’t do zero drop. I finally diagnosed an issue I’ve always had with the tendons on the outside of my ankles and zero drop irritates those tendons. It was hard to find trail runners with much drop to speak of since “barefoot” has been the big trend, but I got some Topos and they’ve been working great.
