  1. Even if you are going to do a ton of backpacking, I still would NOT designate that as a requirement to spend the great expense for these extreme ultra-light tents. A person may do a lot of backpacking, but normally hike shorter distances and place camp comfort as a priority. In that case, I would not choose these thin, extreme ultra-light tents.
Those tents are specifically targeted and more suited towards people who are hiking very long Section hike distances or even longer Thru-Hikers. These people place the priority on light loads to carry many miles, every day, for days on end…camp is merely a place to CRASH at night….sleep reasonably comfortable….then break camp and get to hiking again.
A person hiking shorter distances and setting up a campsite for a 2 – 3 day camp, or longer would find that ultra-light gear trades off comfort, and often durability, for the light pack weight.
I am in the latter group…I make every attempt to make my gear purchase with lightweight gear, but I also want that gear to serve me for many years, so durability is a must.
