The original Ten Essentials list was assembled in 1930 by the Seattle-based Mountaineers, and it consisted of ten items to help climbers and adventurers be prepared for emergency situations. In this video, Katie shows you the updated Ten Essentials—ten systems to help you prepare to head into the backcountry. Check it out, then come to your local REI to get geared up and talk to the experts.
